Taryn Jones has been a homeowner in Overland Park for the last five years. She felt drawn to the downtown Overland Park area with its locally owned businesses, farmer’s market, and art events. Taryn is a social worker and is currently in graduate school at the University of Kansas to obtain a Master’s degree in Social Work with a special focus in grant writing and public policy. Now in 2019 she has decided to give back to the community she loves so much by running to serve on its city council. If elected, Taryn would be the first the first person with a disability to serve on the city council, and the first openly LGBTQ city councilor for Overland Park.
